Mothering is My Sacred Calling

What you do in your house is worth as much as if you did it up in heaven for our Lord God. We should accustom ourselves to think of our position and work as sacred and well-pleasing to God, not on account of the position and work, but on account of the word and faith from which the obedience and the work flow.

Martin Luther

Psalm 113:9

He gives the barren woman a home,
making her the joyful mother of children.
Praise the Lord!
-Psalm 113:9

After the kids were in bed tonight, Sal was watching a movie, so I decided to go listen to somethings I had downloaded from Above Rubies.  One of the talks I was listening to was about beautiful womanhood and being a mother.  Nancy spoke about how to make a home heavenly and peaceful and a haven.  Her biggest suggestion was to wear a smile!  God calls us to be joyful mothers of children!

Lately, I’ve not been joyful.  I’ve been riding a wave of self pity and it shows.  The kids were sick, we’re still struggling in our new adventure- but I’m not going to make excuses.  I’m going to rise above this self pity and woe that I’ve been projecting and get back to joy.

Tomorrow, I’m going to smile.
